How we work

The Coffeeine Process: Precision Meets Purpose

At Ubuntu Brews, great coffee is crafted through connection, care, and consistency. Our “Coffeeine Process” delivers premium, traceable Kenyan coffee from farm to global buyer with unwavering transparency and quality.

Step 1

Direct Farmer Partnerships

We source directly from over 200 smallholder farmers across Kenya’s top growing regions. Each farmer is contracted, trained, and fairly compensated — earning 30–50% more than market rates. No middlemen. Just trust and transparency.

Step 2

Selective Harvesting & Grading

Cherries are handpicked at peak ripeness and delivered to our processing facilities. Using rigorous cupping protocols, we grade coffee by flavor, bean size, moisture, and aroma — ensuring only premium lots move forward.

Step 3

Quality Control & Traceability

Our in-house quality lab and ERP traceability system ensure every shipment is tracked from farm to port. Every bag is scanned, sampled, and tagged — giving buyers full visibility and confidence in what they receive.

Step 4

Packaging & Documentation

Once approved, green coffee is milled, packaged, and labeled by grade (AA, AB, C, E, etc.). All documentation, from invoices to phytosanitary certificates, is professionally handled in-house.

Step 5

FOB Export from Mombasa

We export under FOB (Free On Board) terms — meaning buyers cover freight and insurance, while we manage everything up to port. This reduces shipping risk and keeps our operations lean and efficient.

Step 6

Secure Payment Protocols

We accept trade-secure payment terms, including Confirmed Letters of Credit (LC) at sight, Irrevocable Corporate Purchase Orders (ICPOs), and Cash Against Documents (CAD), ensuring cash-positive, low-risk transactions.
